Immigration to the US with prior conviction
Hi I was charged with assault in 1998 and received a £200 fine in the UK, since then I have earned 2 degrees and own my own business.

I am now looking to immigrate to the US with my wife who is a US citizen.

The immigration forms ask about prior convictions and I have requested police records as far as I understand the conviction is spent after 5 years.

Will this prevent me from receiving a Visa (green card) if this shows on my police report?

    I would appreciate any help

    Thank You

You must disclose all information, don't lie ever!

This record will be problem, you need to file a waiver... for fast, smooth process, consult immigration attorney who is specialized in family based immigration. Don't attempt to proceed on your own.. good luck.
