Searching for my mom's best friend
I'm looking for my mom's best friend from when she was a teenager. My mom is having her 50th birthday, and I would love to reunite her with her best friend. I know she graduated from Columbia high school in decatur,ga, and her family owned a furniture store in decatur called Mahaffey furniture. I don't know what year she graduated or if she got remarried. I have searched through every free search website there is and I just cannot find her. I know she is in her mid 50's, and she also has a younger brother. Her name is Marilyn Mahaffey, please someone help, my mom has not seen her in over 17 years!!

Have you called the high school alumni office or Decatur's Chamber of Commerce? Find out who is the keeper of yearbooks (public library or high school?) and ask someone to look for Marilyn's photo and the year graduated. The CC might know of a longtime resident who would remember that family. Seems like some telephone work might just solve your problem.

I did contact the high school, and they said I would have to have a signed paper from the person saying it is okay for me to have the information. I talked with someone in the counseling office, is that the same as the alumni office?

What my school did was contact the person and gave her my name and number (and reason why I wanted to talk with her), so she could decide to contact me or not.
