    Bonita--
Is it OK to start taking my birth control pill on a different day?
I usually start my packs on Friday so my period comes on Monday and ends on the next Friday, but I wanted to start taking my pills on Thursday so that way my period starts on Sunday and ends on the next Thursday. I asked the nurse at the clinic that I get my pills from if it was OK and she said that it was OK to start a new pack on a Thursday but don't have unprotected sex for the first week just to be safe. I started a new pack today (thursday) and my period should be gone by tomorrow, but I just want to know will this effect my cycle or will it end like it normally does on Friday? And after this do I just continue to take my pills like normal but start my next pack on Thursday also?

Your cycle should eventually adapt to the new pill schedule. Everyone's body is different but if you've been on the first schedule for a really long time, you may not see the shift in your cycle for the first couple months.

You can just start your new pack on Thursday if you're wanting it to begin a day earlier. As your nurse said, just don't have unprotected sex the first week or so to be safe(er).

    Oh OK, thank you.
