I just gave my employer a 2 weeks notice to leave. Can I make up my mind and reverse my decision and stay?

A coworker of mine recently did that but when he came back to HR he was told that they couldn't do anything about it. If that happens in my case, and it probably will, is there something that I can legaly do?

Nope, Once you resign, its up to the company to decide whether to give you your job back. If they decide not to, you have no legal recourse.

I doubt you will be able to "take back" your resignation for whatever reason. Once you tender your resignation, it's a done deal as far as the employer is concerned. I once worked for a company and one employee did tender her resignation of 2 weeks. The employee was asked to please rethink her leaving and she did and stayed on with that company. But, again, that was a very rare situation and I have never ran into that ever happening before or since.

Well, my last day at work should be May 1. and just a day after I gave them the notice they told they were going to do some kind of severance buy out deal out of the blue. I still want to leave after that date but I was just wondering if I'd be elegable to get some of that money because I'm still de facto employed there.

I doubt you could get "some of that money" as a buy out is just that - they are buying you out of your last two weeks of working there. In essence it means please leave now versus wait 2 weeks and leave then. Sure you can stay but you don't get both. It's either leave early and take the money or stick around and get paid as usual.
