I am in the process of replacing the polybuetelene piping and have gotten several quotes. One of the contractors asked if we want to just cut the old pipe in the wall and leave them in place. They would remove the pipes in the crawl space then run the new lines. I had not heard of that and wondered if it was a wise thing to do or not. Any help would be greatly appreciated

It is OK to abandone the old lines, its cheaper. What does he spec for replacement lines, PEX?

Yes, he did quote for PEX, is that a decent product?

That is an excellent product for replumbing a home. You can snake it around corners between, walls and rafters way , way easier than copper or PVC all of which are staight and rigid. PEX was very pricey whenit first came out but is now lower while copper keeps going up and up.

I agree with Ballengerb1: If he leaves pipes in the walls - there will be less for you to patch and paint...
