I am a tooth grinder - I have tried mouth guards, hypnosis, relaxation techniques, special coatings and nothing has helped.

Teeth grinding is usually a sign of stress. I know I grind my teeth even as an adult if I am overly stressed. Have there been any changes in his life? Moved to a new place? New baby in the house or anything that could add stress?

Other than that, it could just be a habit for him, like biting nails. Like many habits, it can be very difficult to break. I'm not sure how to break a habit like this.

Your best bet is the bite guard, the damage from grinding is expensive, I just broke a molar doing it, my teeth are moving and I've done irreversible damage to my jaw. I didn't know I did it until my x-rays revealed it.

Like Jennie said its worse with stress, and worse if I am overtired, etc.

He can be fitted for a biteguard at the dentist, those ones are the least intrusive and he's more likely to wear it than the generic
