ON-going Pain and Popping in Knee

About 3 months ago I was at work and bent down to pick something up. My foot was planted on the ground and my knee seemed to twist to the side and make an EXTREMELY loud popping noise. It was VERY painful and I began to feel dizzy and nausious immediately after.

The next day my knee was a little swollen and very sore. Every time I extended my leg it would make the same loud pop. I went to the doctor and they put a knee immobilizer on and told me to keep it on for 3 weeks.

I took it off after 3 weeks and every since then Every time I extend my knee it pops. My knee is constantly sore and there is dull paid on the outside of my knee cap the majority of the time. Most of the pain is coming from the side of my kneecap.

It also hurts when I fully bend my leg and usually goes numb if I keep it in that position for too long.

Since, I just started a new job I do not have insurance yet and cannot afford to go to the doctor if it's something he cannot diagnose. Does anyone know what is wrong?

Thank you for reading this long post! :)

Has anyone ever had this problem or does it sound like anything is torn?

It could be a torn ligament like your ACL or PCL.
Maybe even your meniscus. I tore my ACL about 6 months
Ago playing softball. My foot was planted when a girl slammed
Into the lower part of my leg and my knee hyperextended.
I heard a loud pop and when I tried to put my weight
Through my leg I immediately got dizzy and actually passed out
For a second. It could be worse then you think. I ended up
Having to have surgery about three weeks after the incident.
