Sister-in-law got into an accident in a car registered to my husband
My sister in law made a left hand turn in front of someone, got hit on the rear tire. No police report and both cars were able to drive away from the scene, but the other car is pretty bad. My husband got the car for her about 2 months ago and failed to take it out of his name until the day after the accident. She is the sole driver of the vehicle and has no insurance.
    Are we liable for this?

    Please help!!

    Yes.

As the owner of the car, he is responsible.

You can and probably will be named in a suit by the other driver. However, if you are forced to pay anything, you can in turn, sue your SIL for what you had to pay. So while your husband is a party because he legally was the owner, its not a given that he will have to shoulder the costs.
