    Adding on a Utility Room
In the back of my house I have a 1/2 bath with the washer and dryer in the bathroom. On the other side of the wall there is a 12'X12' slab of concrete. I have thought about using that slab by having a contractor build an additional room there and making it be a utility room and making the bathroom into a full bath. How much would this cost? And/or would it be cheaper to do-it-yourself?

Unless you can find a free contractor it always cheaper to do it yourself as long as the work you do is correct and doesn't need to be torn out and redone.

My suggestion is you do the demo/framing/and finish work and call a plumber for the drainage which needs to be done completely right. Call 3 plumbers and go over what the EXACT scope of work you need done and who doing what and go from there.

Call and electrician if you aren't good in that area and also get 3 bids.

If you go with this re post and lets talk about the insulating this added room and heating.
