    ASTROPHYSICS
    Machines and efficiency
    Aforce of 300N is necessary to slide a 50 kg mass up an inclined plane.
    a)calculate the actual mechanical advantage of this inclined plane.
    b)if the ramp is 2.om long and 1m high calciulate the efficienyof this machine.
    :confused:

    If you were to lift the mass directly vertically, you'll need a force of 500N (through F=ma, and taking a as 10m/s^2)

    However, with the inclined plane you only need 300. You can get the mechanical advantage now?

    Then, for the part b, have a drawing. Find the component of parallel to the plane.

    Efficiency = Output / Input

    Hope it helped. :) Post back if you have any difficulties.
