On Disability and in serious debt with a judgement
Hi! I am a 47y.o. woman who has terminal breast cancer. I was diagnosed in 12/06, and in 8/06, I lost my job. I am now on TWO forms of disability. I have SS, and a short term policy through an old employer that will expire in August 2009. I have huge medical bills, as well as credit card bills. I now have a judgment against me on a credit card for more than $6k. Can they take money out of my bank account? I have heard they cannot touch my SS gov't disability, but what about my insurance disability payments? Any information would be helpful, I am really nervous about this situation. I am considering bankruptcy, but not sure.
    Thanks, Tallwoman524

If all these disbursements are directed to your bank account by direct deposit, then yes, they can be taken. If you just do a simple procedure and have all cheques sent to your home, then you have control.
