92 honda civic ex won't start
Hey, Saturday I stopped at a store and came back out to find that my 1992 honda civic ex would not start. It turned over, but it would not start. I had it towed to the mechanic, and he is trying to rule out everything. Right now he thinks it is the computer, but he is not sure and does not want to make me spend a load of money before knowing. If I remember right, he said that there is no power getting to the fuel pump or something along those lines. He has tried the distributor among other things. My car has 104,000 miles on it. Does anyone know what it could be or are there any places to get a cheaper computer besides a junk yard that I know will work? Thanks in advance. God bless!

By the way it is an automatic. It has an after market alarm in there apparently with a fuse blown out but was starting fine before. I didn't even know it had an alarm. I don't know if that will affect it or not. The mechanic put a fuse in there and he said it didn't work.

When the ignition switch is turned to ON (Position II), does the Check Engine Light come on for 2 seconds and then go out?

Yeah, there were no check engine lights on before I took it to the mechanic

Does it initially come on and then go out?

I don't know that one. You think it would be weird to call the mechanic and tell him to try and see?

No. If it comes on and then goes out, the ECM is fine.

I don't want him to think I don't think he knows what he is doing.

Your call. Right now, it doesn't sound like he's familiar with Hondas. I'm an expert on them.

Well, he said that he knew how to test if it was the ECM but he wanted to make sure it wasn't the alarm interfering first. He said the fuel injectors and stuff like that aren't getting power... not the fuel pump. He also said that when he puts the fuse in the alarm just goes crazy. I don't have a clicker or anything for the alarm. I guess he says alarms can interfere with the computer stuff sometimes.

Can alarms really mess with your system like that?
