I have been on birth control for almost a year now. My boyfriend and I just started having sex unprotected. I had my period on time but it was very unsual. It was very light and only 2 days, with very dark blood. I have been having cramps ever since I had my period. I also have polycystic ovarian disease. Could it just be that my hormones aren't stable?

Were you using birth control pills? If so, and you have now stopped, it could be your body adjusting to the hormone changes. Some women will become regular right away, others may take a few cycles. Certainly PCOS can cause unusual periods for many women.

Are you trying to get pregnant now? You could always try a pregnancy test, if negative, wait and see if you have a normal period next month.
