The usual Augmentin dosage for adults and larger children is one 500-mg tablet every 12 hours or one 250-mg tablet every 8 hours.

Do the math: If its only 20 mg a day for a 72 lb girl she'd have to have 6.66 mg every 8 hours.

::edited; thanks Sneezy. I'm off to bed now!

    mudweiser:

Really quick, if you take 20 mg a day, you should take 6.66 mg every 8 hours.

I'm a little confused... Isn't her total dosage calculated from her weight?

If her body weight is 72 pounds,

This is the total daily dose

This is the dose every 8 hours

In the real world (this is "homework help", after all), pills aren't easily divisible into exact dosages.

In the real world, this is also complicated by this warning:

"Since both the 250-mg and 500-mg tablets of AUGMENTIN contain the same amount of clavulanic acid (125 mg, as the potassium salt), two 250-mg tablets of AUGMENTIN are not equivalent to one 500-mg tablet of AUGMENTIN; therefore, two 250-mg tablets of AUGMENTIN should not be substituted for one 500-mg tablet of AUGMENTIN."
