    I have a ice build up in the bottom portion of the freezer, It is a side by side.

    More than likely it is the defrost timer switch that went bad. This switch regulares the heat coil that defrosts the fridge so you don't have to do it manually. On a side by side it's one of the weakest parts that is the first to go. The switch needs to be totally replaced.
