    Kenmore Dryer 110.86872800
My daughters dryer stops running and heating before the dry cycle is complete. She lives alone but her friend sometimes shares the dryer. Sometimes she has to wait several hours before the dryer will start again. This dryer is over 10 years old. I replaced the motor and starter switch in 1/13/03 with used parts. I replaced the heater thermostat and the 150 deg F thermostat that are located near the vent in 3/19/03.

The Thermal cutoff or the 250 deg F thermostat that are mounted on the heater box has never been replaced.

I originally thought that this could be the timer but I'm not sure.

My guess is that it is overheating. Pull it out from the wall and check for lint build-up in the vent pipe (all the way to the outside). Also, check the dryer itself for lint build-up.

Not to alarm you, but I would consider this a safety issue.

    Good luck,

The dryer is on the back porch and is not connected to a vent but maybe it is close to the porch wall. And I'll get my shop vac and clean out around the motor and stuff. Thank you!
