Connecting a generator to my home
My home is wired with a 50 amp transfer switch for a portable generator. I just purchased an 8000 watt generator and was wondering if I can still use that transfer switch. The generator has a 30 amp( 4 prong ) outlet instead of the 50 amp( 4 prong ) outlet. Can I just replace the generator end of my power cord with a 30 amp( 4 prong ) connector, or do I need to install a new 30 amp transfer switch and make a whole new power cord.

You do not need to change the transfer switch. Replace the connector and things should be fine, if all other connections are in order.

Or just get one of these from any RV dealer.

The 50 amp transfer switch is rated UP TO 50 amps, so connecting a 30 amp source will not overload the transfer switch.

Change the input plug on the switch to match the 30 amp output from the generator.
