I have a 2001 honda civic LX that the front passenger window will not work. I took off the panel and I disconnected it and plugged in a direct feed from a 12 volt battery and it went up and down normally as I reversed the wires. I did notice that when I hooked everything back up as it was the fuse was blown in the fuse box for the window. So I replaced it and still no power but I went to check the motor which I believe everyone calls a regulator it was extremely hot to the point that I practically burned myself and had to wait a while for it to cool down. Is there something netween the crontrol and the fuse box to the regulator that might be going bad or shorting out? Also my OEM alarm stopped working and my power locks don't work like they should. Funny thing is my horn stopped working too. Damn car. I was thinking of disconnecting the OEM alarm and seeing if that would eliminate all these problems. Any ideas? Thanks

It seems that you might be over analyzing the situation a little. Sounds like it might just be the master switch given the driver window control is inop (most commonly used) and the door locks are inop. The blown fuse could have been from when you hooked up the direct power source. The alarm and the horn I think might be an unrelated issues.

The fuse was blown before I even took the panels off. I tested the regulator after I disconnected it from the main wiring. I did try the switch from the passenger side thinking that might have been it but I never thought it could be the main driver one. I will have to try that and check it out. Thanks for the idea.

My friend has the similar problem if not exactly the same. The motor went out due to continuous triggering "UP". I found that out when I replace w/ a new motor/regular. Plugged it up and it went up. I thot the switch(FR) might be faulty and I tried the RR switch and it's the same thing.

I will try the master switch to see if that's faulty.
