    Lab/Schnauzer breeder
    Hi,
I live in Michigan and I am searching for a lab/schnauzer mix breeder. I would also adopt a rescue of this mix pup, but my guess is that will be hard to come by. Anyone know of contacts in the surrounding areas of MI for this dog?
I noticed on one posted questions someone got their dog from the Chicago area?
    Thank you!

The only way to obtain this particular mix would be to find one in a shelter.
Registered breeders are not allowed to breed cross-bred dogs.
They have more genetic problems than pure-bred dogs and are bred by backyard breeders.
I know they make up cute little names for cross-breds like schnoodles or maltypoos etc but these dogs more often than not have underlying problems.
I'm sorry for the rant but people who intentionally breed mixed breed dogs make me so angry!

I live near you and would LOVE to have a schnauzer / lab mix puppy or two! So maybe a breeder will read these posts and respond.

IGNORE the previous poster. There are virtually NO schnauzers in rescues.

We have allergy issues in our home (yes we have tried solutions and they did not work). We want the lab/schnauzer mix for allergies and for other reasons, which we do not have to explain.

Soooo, if there is a breeder out there, looks like you have a couple of customers.

Again, PLEASE do not encourage backyard breeders buy advertising that you want to buy one of their problem ridden mutts...

Have either of you checked your local shelter for dogs?
There are literally hundreds to choose from and you might save a special little guy from being put to death.

Labs shed, that wouldn't be good for allergies.

It's really not nice to advise people to ignore others:(

Everyone has their own opinion and can make up there own mind, that's why they are here for answers.

And Shaz is very knowledgeable, she knows what she is talking about.:)

SOUNDS LIKE PREACHING TO ME!! Not an answer, just an opinion.

If you want to POST A SEPARATE subject then do it.

The question here is about where to find a lab schnauzer mix. Last I checked we were still in America.

Why don't you go to the animal rescue site and do a search?

    Thank you Dahlia :)
I tried to give you a greenie but I had to spread the rep.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I personally refuse to advise people to buy from backyard breeders.
I have a sticky about backyard breeders and puppy mills at the top of the 'dogs' page. You would do well to read it 'somewhereintime'

It's in the "useful picees from out members" thread...

Go to the link I posted in that thread, it is a great site explaining how bad backyard breeders are.

On a side note, I have another backyard breed lover in another thread... I don't know why I bother sometimes...
They deserve to have an unhealthy mutt.

You will be unable to find a breeder that breeds this mix, unless it has become a 'designer mutt'. And if it has, I would steer clear of these so called breeders, as they will charge an arm and a leg for a dog that you could rescue from a shelter.

Yes, I went into our local pet store the other day and they were selling "Spoodles" (My poor beloved breed has been defiled) the cross-breds were selling for $500... yes $500 more than the purebreds...
They wanted $1500 for these mutts!
I was horrified, we charge less than that for our purbred Mini Poodles! And I am sure they don't health test like we do!
Not only that but they are claiming they are "hypoallergenic!"
    What a crock!

    Spaniel x Poodle...
The particular "Spaniel" varies depending on the breeder... usually a Cocker Spaniel

Ahhh yes... sorry! Not sure what spaniel it is then!
It's awful, just because my breed has "poo" in the name they think it's funny to mix them :(

There were two names that made me chuckle though...
Havanese x Poodle... "Have a poo"
Borzoi x Afghan... "Bogan" (for those who don't know 'bogan' is Australian slang for basically someone from a trailor park!)

After the initial chuckle wore off though I was sad again...

My neighbor has a Labradoodle. It looks like a giant Schnauzer:eek:
    But it is very friendly:)

There is a "breeder" here for Labradoodles, they even advertise on television...
Really most of them just look like standard poodles without their faces clipped.

Only about half of the puppies end up being non-allergy (just a random fact)
