    Fighting in relationships
How do I fight without aggression but while at the same time, getting my point across?

    I wish

    Here are a few suggestions:

    1) Wait until you feel calmer before bringing up what's on your mind.

    2) If you feel aggressive, write all your arguments onto a Word document. Save it. When you feel calmer, then open the document and edit out the aggressive remarks. Then copy paste the document into an email and send it away.

    3) If in the middle of an argument you feel yourself heating up, take a time out before continuing. It makes a huge different.

It takes a lot of training, discipline and patience to withhold aggressive behavior, so you're just going to have to practice.

Whenever my partner and I get into a heated discussion we get so angry we feel like walking away. We have talked about this when we are not fighting and agree that if things get heated we should just part ways for a few hours to calm down. When we both get back we usually feel pretty silly about the whole thing and can talk things out calmly.

I wish it were that simple for me. I haven't talked to him since Saturday.
