    No fault retinal specialist
    I was recently in a rear end car accident and suffered a detached vitrious. I have been under the care of excellent retinal specialists for the first three weeks after the accident, but my attorney just told me that I need to switch to a medical retinal specialist who accepts No Fault insurance. Geico does not have a list of doctors who accept No Fault insurance, and my attorney referred me to New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, but they told me they do not accept No Fault. How do I find a good retinal specialist in Manhattan who will accept No Fault insurance? If no one is available in Manhattan, I would be willing to travel to Brooklyn.

    You have to keep calling. You can also check with the local Medical Association to see if they can maintain a list.

    I work as a liability investigator and stories like this make me furious! How and why insurance companies can dictate treatment and providers is beyond me!

    As I said - frustrating and upsetting and you pay no-fault premiums (I am also in NY) for this kind of handling of case, handling which I can only describe as shabby. Meanwhile the insurance company will "probably" tell you to file an appeal - of course, in the year it takes to get a settlement of that appeal you could go blind (and I'm not being flippant). Ridiculous.
