I want to get my cartiledge pierced, but would much prefer to not go to a shop, as I am underage; would I be more likely to contract an infection, even if I keep it in for the required 12 weeks?

If the needle used to pierce it is disinfected correctly (sterile) and you keep it clean like normal... should be fine. My best friends mom pierced my ear why I was ten.

Why not have your mom take you to a shop and have it done correctly though? Its not like she won't see it after its done anyway... :)
