Father wants to sign over rights
I live in the state of Georgia and my sons father wants to sign over his rights... What steps do I need to take to start the process? It's not like he's involved in his life anyway. He's ordered to pay child support and doesn't pay, he has visitation rights but when it is his weekend to visit he leaves our son who's 7 alone for hours on end with another 9yr old child... I'm now married to a wonderful guy who is willing to adopt my son... So does anyone have any advice on how I can start this process?

There are hundreds of threads on abandonment, giving up rights. It is almost impossible.

If the father is willing to sign over his rights in accordance with State law, in the format required, your husband can adopt the children. If he is not willing to do so, you cannot strip him of his rights.

If you have a Court Order requiring support, enforce it. You cannot force him to see his children but you CAN force him to support them - although it can be a long process if he avoids.
