Washing Machine backs up into bathroom.
Hello, I have problems with my washing machine off and on. My washing machine is in my basement and I also have a bathroom downstairs with a shower. The washing machine seems to drain so fast that it starts to come up in the bathroom ( Toilet, Shower and Sink)
Is there something I can do to stop this from happening? Any help would be great.

    Thanks!

Your situation would indicate a partial blockage downstream from the bathroom. The solution would be to snake the drain from the bathroom lavatory roof vent or you could pull the toilet and snake from the open clooset bend. If you snake from the roof put out enough cable to reach the base and 16 feet more. Good luck, Tom

Tom nailed it. You have a clogg downstream of basement bathroom. If you have a cleanout located inside basement, or just outside of basement, you can auger from here. Or (if no accesible cleanouts) pull basement toilet and auger from here(as speedball suggested). I would only suggest that when you auger the drain, you measure how far it is to main city sewer(where your sewer connects to city sewer) and put in at least that much snake. This way you will not have to worry about dislodging a clog, only for it to go down stream and plug up there. If you auger to the city sewer, you will have cleared the problem all together. Please let me know if this makes sense.
