    Breaking lease
I am looking to buy aproperty in VA. Presently renting a private house in MD the lease will expire in December. If we move out in summer can we break the lease? Would there be any penalty? We will be the first time buyers.

Depends on what is in your lease...

First you really need to learn to read instructions. You posted this twice in the Introductions area which is clearly marked as NOT the place to ask questions. I moved this to the proper forum (eliminating the duplicate).

A lease is a contract. Some leases may have an early termination clause. Most don't. If there is nothing specified then you will need to try and negotiate a buyoutm usually 2 months rent. Or you can try subletting (if the lease allows). Or you can find a relacement tenant agreeable to the landlord.
