Need advice/ideas on stopping seepage into ejector basin. Bi-level house, crawl space was dug out to make a basement, and contractor installed a poly basin & ejector pump for the laundry tub. He also ran the floor drain into this basin using PVC. When they cut the hole in the side of the basin for the drain pipe, they cut the hole to big. Water seeps through this opening, quite a bit when it rains, making the setup act like a sump pump. I’ve seen bushings/collars designed to fill the hole, but these were part of a complete ejector package (pump, basin, etc.) I thought about hydraulic cement but that could fall off and jam the pump. The basin walls are not smooth, they are corrugated. Any way to permanently seal this gap?

What puzzles me is why is this your problem? Why should you take the responsibly of repairing someone else's screw up? Call the contractor back and demand the problem be repaired. Regards, Tom

This work was done almost 27 years ago when my parents owned the house. Soooo, any contractor liability is obviously not an option. The problem always existed but has gotten worse in the last several years. I bought the house in '03 and have been fixing things as I go along. Any suggestions?

Hydraulic cement would appear to be the answer. I would grout the opening with the cement making sure that it not only grouted the opening but spilled out the hole into and around the outside so it hardened outside as well as in the hole. I would also leave some lop over in the inside as well. Then when t sets up you will have a retaining lip in the inside and outside so it
