    Fathering Rights
I have a brother that needs information on exactly what it means (in the state of North Carolina) to give up fathering rights to his child. Does this mean that he will not longer have to pay child support?

First unless the other parent has a new partner that is going to adopt or for some specific reason, rights are not just given up.

But only if there is an adoption, will the other parent not have to pay child support.

The one parent does not have to use their rights, but they are almost impossible to just "give up" they can be taken away if the one parent is a threat, for long time prison sentence and a few other issues.
