I had unprotected sex 2 weeks after starting the pill have I got anything to worry.
    Hi!
I started taking the pill two or three days after my period finished and I had unprotected sex roughly just over two weeks after starting the pill. Have I got anything to worry about when it comes to pregnancy? I'm just worried as I know the pill I'm on, which is microgynon 30 by the way, stops the egg from being released and as I started the pill a few days after my period finished an egg would have already been released. Help help help!
    Thank you (:

As far as the birth control goes:
NO method of birth control is 100% effective.
If you correctly used this method, you should be fine.
The best thing you can do is combine multiple types (pills, spermicide, etc. at once) however, even if you use all of them, if you are still producing eggs and your boyfriend is producing sperm, you CAN get pregnant.
If you think you are pregnant, you should speak to your doctor.

There's a reason why doctors recommend that you use additional protection for at least a month after starting the pill.

You'll just have to wait and see.

    Good luck.

Well my leaflet says a week so you know, I'm just confused as to what the pill will do to help if an egg has already been released.

A week? Most bcp's advise you to wait at least a month after starting, at least one period after starting, before having sex sans condom.

Have you asked your doctor? That would be my next step.

The hard facts, even the pill isn't 100% effective, even the pill plus a condom isn't 100% effective. So really, anytime you have sex you could get pregnant.

The pill, a condom, other birth control, that's safer sex, but there is no such thing as safe sex.

Really, if you want to lower your oddes, add a condom to the mix. Still not 100%, but just that little bit of added protection.

    Good luck.

Yeah, a week! I was going to wait until after I had had my withdrawal bleed anyway to know everything was working as it should be but it just kind of happened >.< I know it isn't 100% effective but its over 99% effective.. apparently. So my doctor said anyway.

My main concern is, was taking the pill after my egg was released and having sex 2 weeks after I had started, a bad idea and would have made it a lot less effective.

    Gosh sex is complicated!

Thanks again for your help (:

Yes we get many posters on here all the time that was on the pill, and used another form, and still had a baby, so remember if you had a gun that held 100 bullets, but only one was in the gun, would you feel safe to pull the trigger,
    That is 99 percent effective.

    So true Chuck. So true.

But, still, it's better then nothing, then you've got a 100 bullet gun with 100 bullets in it! ;)

Pregnancy is unlikely for a few reasons. In most cases an egg wouldn't have been released that close to your period ending. If it were, you would be OK anyway since you didn't have the unprotected sex until two weeks later. The egg is only viable for about 24 hours. During the two weeks before the unprotected sex you were using the pill and microgynon is one that is considered effective early on.

As the others have said, no pill is 100% effective, but the odds of you becoming pregnant were greatly reduced. Possible... yes... likely... no.
