    Tenant Drug Use
I have just received from the real estate agnecy a letter that indicates that they know my flat mates have been smoking marijuana in the apt.

The Apt is under my name and they are not on the lease.

They have stated "Kindly resolve these matters so that we will not have to take further steps to protect our interests...."

    My question is this:
Are the Police going to be involved?

Or will they sort it through the tennacy courts or by themselves?

And finally does this mean that they are going to EVICT me or is it a final warning before they do so?

Most leases have a clause prohibiting using the rental premises for illegal activities. If you don't take care of the problem, they have several options including eviction and reporting to the police.

What they will do is up to them.

    Hello David:

It depends on how your respond... It could be ALL of the above, or maybe none.

What do you WANT to do?? Do you want to fight? Do you want to take 'em on? If so, I think you could kick their butts. There are, however, risks from doing so. I don't know. My advice is going to depend on your answer. If it was me, and I smoke a lotta dope, I wouldn't want to live anywhere where I wasn't wanted. So, I'd move.

But, if they want you to hold you to your lease, AND they want you to change your lifestyle, that's a different matter.

Tell me what you want to do, and I'll tell you how to do it.
