Hello,
I just finished reading one of you septic issue replies and thought you might be able to help. I live in Maine and we have lost most of our snow and the frost is starting to thaw. We call this mud season because the ground becomes very wet and spongy. I noticed there is a strange drown colored runoff in the grass above where my septic is located and it smells very fishy and unpleasant. There has also been a similar smell in our bathroom for the last few months and I could not find the problem. I am wondering if I might have a septic issue or if it is a result of the leech filed thawing out? My house is under contract to sell and I am a little concerned. I know the area above the tank and leech field smell during this time of year but I am wondering what to do and if there is any trouble shooting you could recommend before calling in a pro. My wife and I are the only ones who live here and the system is just under 4 years old and has never had any maintenance done.
Thanks ahead of time for any suggestions,
Todd
