    How to start a coffeeshop
I'm planning to have a coffee shop in our place. I don't know how to start. I just want it very simple. But when I try to browse on the equipments that will be use it is too expensive.
I just want to know where to find the basics of different coffees on how to make it. Like cappucino, espresso , etc.
    Please help.
    Thanks

If you are going to serve cappucino/espresso, you have to get a cappucino machine. Check with local restaurant suppliers and tell them you're looking for a used machine. I found one for our café for $1500... brand new costs over $8,000. Once you get the machine, start practicing steaming/frothing milk. Also, buy an espresso bean grinder. Don't buy any pre-ground beans. They're crap. I had to learn all that stuff on my own because there is very little info out there on the subject. I will give you a list of what goes into some of these drinks:
Cappucino-1/3 espresso, 1/3 steamed milk, 1/3 frothed milk

    Latte-1/3 espresso, 2/3 steamed milk

Mocha-same as a latte, add chocolate syrup

Caramel latte-same as a latte, add caramel syrup

Americano-1 shot espresso, rest of cup filled with hot water

Café au lait-1/2 regular coffee, 1/2 steamed milk

Those are pretty much all of the drinks you would sell. Also keep a stock of flavored syrups to add to cappucinos/lattes. If someone orders a shot of espresso, all you do is brew the espresso and add nothing to it.
