    Stimulus package 2009
Hi Everyone, I am relatively new at doing payroll and we just changed from ADP to doing payroll inhouse with Quickbooks. My question is; do I need to do anything specific to adjust my employees payroll to be ready for the stimulus package 2009? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. A little stressed and confused at this point! :( Thanks! Donna

If you have updated your Quickbooks software since March you will have downloaded the revised withholding tables for your payroll. If you haven't updated, do that immediately as the new tables are to be used no later than April 1, 2009. If you fall into the category of employers that must follow the COBRA requirements then you should go to The U.S. Department of Labor Home Page and look up the new COBRA requirements mandated in the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act. The ARRA requires employers to notify involuntarily terminated employees by April 18, 2009. The website has example letters for you to modify and use.

Good luck with your payroll duties.
