    Bad Acne!
For a few years now I have had acne and I didn't think much of it.

Now I have so many good things coming for me like my Semi, 8th grade farewell, high school, then home coming.

The closest thing is in about 2 months and long story short is I really don't want to put up with acne anymore.

I have tried Proactive, Clean&Clear, and some things prescribed from my doctor but I still suffer from acne.

Does anyone have suggestions of what I can use or do?

    Any answer is welcome! :]

Are you over washing your face? Do you wash it at all? Do you exfoliate?

There are other factors that contribute to health skin like; nutrition [are you eating right?], sleep, stress and skin regimen.

What type of skin do you have? Oily? Combination? Dry? Try products that would best suit for your skin- the best way to find out is to seek a dermatologist.

    Here are a few tips:

    1- Drink water!

2-Wash your skin everyday with a gentle, moisturizing soap.

3-Wear makeup? Make sure to wash it all off every night before bed.

4-Wear sunscreen everyday, even in the winter or when it is cloudy out. The longer you protect your skin from harmful sun rays, the more your skin will love you.

5- Visit a dermatologist. Skin issues should be treated and your physician can help you with tips to prevent them from recurring or becoming worse.

6-Moisturize. Use a natural lotion that is not made from an alcohol base each night before bed.

I do wash my face 3 times a day, when I wake up, after school and before bed.

I eat my daily portions of fruits, and veggies if that's what you mean.

I do get stressed very easily and I have side bangs if that makes your face oily. My face is not all that dry, if I find it is dry I usually apply lotion.

One thing that has not been brought up is genetics. Did either of your parents have acne growing up? If they did, then you inherited the acne from them.

Actually, neither of my parents have brought that up, genetics have never crossed my mind, thank you :]

    I will ask them asap.

If it is in my genetics are there any products I could try out, or am I washing my face too much?

If it's genetics there is nothing you can do but wait it out. Some pimples are caused by environmental issues like food, bad hygiene, etc. But acne is usually genetic.

Okay well thank you for your help,I will ask my parents if they had acne like mine. Then I'll come back to the thread.

    I really appreciate it :D

I used to have really bad acne too. One thing that helped a lot was washing my face with cold water even after a hot shower. It was also better using cream cleanser rather than soapy cleanser. Don't pop your zits! You will only get more if you do.

Okay thank you so much, that might be the problem, I wash my face with warm water and soap so I'll try that instead :].

Plain bar soap isn't very good for people with very bad acne. It usually just gives you more zits and drys out your skin.

    What about the liquid soap?

If it's for your face it's okay. I used hand soap on my face before and it gave me more pimples. Definitely try a cream cleanser. Olay makes good cream cleansers. The clean&clear deep clean cream cleanser is good too.
