    Is a J2 visa holder-worker a US resident?
    I've been living for a year in US. I have a job as scientist and I have a J2 visa. Can I fill the 1040 and include my child as dependent? Do I need a SSN for my child too?

    Your residency status is same as J1 holder. However, you must pay FICA taxes on your income.
