    Potassium iodide's chemical formula is KI. It is composed of potassium ions and iodide ions. It is a "salt".



    If it reacted with an oxidizer, you would form iodine:



    The potassium will not react under most conditions as there are essentially no reducing agents strong enough to reduce potassium ions to metallic potassium. You can reduce it electrolytically, however.
