I have heard there is a skin lightening surgery they perform in asia, has anyone else heard about this? Its suppose to get you light, like when you where a baby light. Appearently you would have the surgery and then take medication like pills or injections for maintenance, it cost like 9300 usd . Its done in the Philippines anyone have more info on this surgery. Please post.

Imagine a life without pills, creams etc and permanent light skin.

I have not heard about this surgery but curious to know what would they do to your body during this surgery. If you have to take pills or get shots to maintain the look then how can you imagine having such complexion without pills or cream. There has got to be a catch. It also sounds dangerous, not to mention expensive.

I got an email from the surgery coordinator, she says that it is an indept peeling solution that's applied to the body for like 5 consecutives days, and you'll see lightening after 3 weeks, at first I thought it was in the philllipines but now she says its conducted in Mexico

I knew deep down there was something like that out there, but couldn't put my finger on it. I've seen stars go lighter over the years even months and wonder what they use. I'm sure it's the same procedure that the porn starts use to bleach their privates. If I hear anything I will post it.

However this procedure will give you an pinkish undertone and not the golden one I am opting for. Rufa Mae Quinto, a philippine celebrity, is said to have undergone this treatment. But I like her before color more than the color she has afterwards. And she can get away with the pinkish undertone because she's very light, but not me.

Nice... but I don't think that pink undertone will wok for everybody. You have to be extremely light before hand

Yep that's the one I was referring 2 but I am scared to got to mexico, I had surgery before in a non english speaking country and the surgery was successful but I will not do it again, I've seen the horror stories on dateline of botched overseas sugeries I'm to scared especially people that went to mexico and came back having major regrets.

OMG what a drastic difference

Where is the place in Mexico that perform this surgery?

Lighter I need your help pleaase get back to me as soon as possible :'(. I need your advice hun I'm very depressed over my skin right now. It has gotten 4 shades darker over recent years. I have heard of this, a black girl on the Montell show was going to have this done... but they never explained how it worked

In the before and after pics yeah she is much lighter, but there's no color left to her... personally, I think she looked prettier in her before pic where you can still see her yellow undertones that are not stripped.

Does anyone know any other information about how these lightening treatments are actually conducted such as methods used and the ingredients?

Eeew, why in the heck would anyone want to look ghostly white like that after picture? She looks WAYYY better before!

LOL I agree, her color before was niice. Guys I have a suggestion why don't we hit up ethnic derms, I wish I lived in the states; I would have done extensive research and I would have visited all the derms in NY and LA, they are giving african american celebs bleaching agents, or perhaps an injection of some sort; there is something out there that is both safe an effective ladies. And I'm sure its not this surgery :S. I know of a nigerian actress that went from DARK COAAALL to a caramel tone!! And so many celebs in africa too, they are not using steroids because the celeb I know is overweight, she performed in a wedding of ours but ever since she became really famous her prices to perform are SKY HIGH! Plus its not like she'll ever tell us what she is using, oh she's always visiting nigeria :S.. I guess she does something there. Ladies please if you live in NY visit your local dermatoligists and ask what those celebs use! I don't understand why it's a big secret like they would make so much money if they advertise the procedure that those celebs undergo. It must be an injection that inhibits melanin or at least effectively reduces the production of melanin, I have heard of such injections in egypt, & its not glutathione, but I am thinking of using glutathione injections :s but they are veryyyyyyyy expensive one shot is like 70$ n thts weekly!! I would do it if can get drastic results; I mean you have to do it each week first and then once every 2 months or so, but I doubt it will give any real results I'm trying to lighten myself at least 4 shades!

Wow this surgery doesn't sound to maintainable? Well let's wait and see what people have to say about it?

Oh also in asia (Philippines especially) the only lightening method they use is through glutathione injections, to this day there is noo actual surgery that actually lightens you (& I mean authentic results), plus asian women are already light, the colour they want to achieve is like 2 shades if not less; we have a Philippino maid and she told me that the gluthathione injections are very common and papaya based creams/soaps are all they really use, they do not use anything harsh because they are already light. Plus 9300 is A RIP OFF my dear; don't go to asia if u want lightening, if anything try africa or the states; its more reliable.

I have to agree with Filipinos are naturally much lighter and only have a couple of shades to reach their goal, and that the methods mention are quite common there... but Africa and other places are far from being a relable source to lighten w/out wretched ugly side effects. Some of the methods used are inefective and the rest are products sold w/ any crap floating in them from mercury to steroids to any other junk they'll pour in them like lead.. best to stay away.

@ SouthAfricacute, number one I did not say it was just Africa. I said Africa and other places are far from being reliable sources to lighten safely, that does not mean that native people that reside there are making the products. Nor does it mean Africa is the only place producing them. BUT companies from western countries are slowly being banned to produce many of these products that contain hq, steroids, mercury, lead, etc. and are in fact moving their companies to overseas where they can not be penalyzed. And then selling their products around the world through websites, wholesale in stores, and even "under the counter". That my dear is a fact. Open your eyes.

You can say all you like you use natural products, yet on here you refer people to hydroquinone which is not natural. I use both. And no, you are not the only one who is "African" or "lived in Africa" on here. I'm half Ethiopian and have lived in Ethiopia, Egypt, and Sudan. Learn to read first and have your facts straight before you post and pass judgement.
