Briggs and Stratton Vanguard 18 hp engine
Can someone tell me how to drain the oil on a Vanguard Briggs and Stratton 18 hp engine? I have located the drain plug but there is some kind of plastic fitting over it with a flip-off nozzle on the end as if this is where the oil drains. It does not appear that the plastic fitting comes off. So, does anyone have directions on draining the oil? Thanks!

If the nozzle is yellow you push in on it and then turn counterclockwise about 1/16 of a turn then pull off. The oil will flow immediately so have your oil pan ready. Once this is doen you can unscrew the plug and install a longer 1/8" galvanized plumbing bib to reach out passed the tractor deck where most engine seem to like to drain their oil.

This oil plug does work pretty well if you get a piece of hose to use as an extension. You can place the end of hose over the black piece, where the yellow cap was, which lets you drain through the hose into your drain pan for even less mess.
