    Ending of Lent
When does lent officially end? Lent is the period when Jesus was in the desert before he started his public ministry when he was tempted by Satan. If this is true, then Lent would end on Palm Sunday because he is entering Jerusalem and no longer in the desert. That is just my thinking, but I have also heard that lent ends on Holy Thursday because Good Friday is the start of Triduum. As a kid I was always under the impression that lent ends at sundown on Holy Saturday. Help if you can.

I don't see the answer there, but if Lent is not observed on Sundays, does that mean that whatever you gave up for 40 days (your sacrifice) is allowed on Sundays?

I had grown up observing Lents right from childhood and my Mom had told that Lents start with Ash Wednesday and finish on Palm Sunday. This makes a period of 40 days. Palm Sunday was last Sunday i.e. April 5. Week of Good Friday and Easter is observed as Holy Week.

Yeah but the fact is if you look at the calendar... Sunday's are not observed in the period of Lent, they are celebration days.

The Sundays that are in the period of Lent ARE in the period of Lent.

As for when Lent "officially" ends: it ends at Easter.

Have you been taught, or led to believe, otherwise?

Got curious to find out what do people do differently during the Lents.

Please post how you observe the Lents.

If you look at the website posted as a reference you see that the forty days exclude the days of Sunday. I was looking at the website.

I'm not sure about "technicalities" but I know this: In Churches around the world, each Sunday during lent is the "1st Sunday of Lent", "2nd Sunday of Lent", etc.

    Riansmsu,
Officially Lent begins with Ash Wednesday and ends on Easter.
    Peace and kindness,
