Im 28 years old and I just got out of a marriage 2 years ago. Well I have met someone and he has purposed. I feel like Im ready to marry him. We don't want to get married for a couple years but we really want to tell my parents. The problem is my dad has stayed friends with my ex-husband and Im worried that he will disapprove for that reason. My dad gets along well with my boyfriend but it did take awhile for him to warm up to him. So I was wondering what would be the best way to tell my dad that we are going to get married and that I don't expect for my dad and my ex to change their friendship.

You use those words - you are an adult, you are in love, you plan to wait X until you marry, this has nothing to do with your Dad's relationship with your "ex," you'd like your Dad's blessing and approval.
