If I'm interpreting the sentence you wrote correctly, this is saying that the balance sheet looks like this:

Accounts Receivable... xxxx
less Allowance... 1150

Net Realizable Value... 8100

If that's what the numbers actually represent (which is how it appears to me), then you would have to work backwards, adding on the 1150 to the 8100 to get back to receivables... 9250.

helemuo - totally off. The $100 difference means there was a $100 debit balance in the Allowance account prior to the adjusting entry of $1250 being made. But that is all in the Allowance account itself and has nothing to do with the question, which is what the Receivables balance would be. The expense part of that entry doesn't affect Receivables in any way whatsoever. The current balance in the Allowance is what's relevant here, not the entry that was made.
