    Dashboard For a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500
Where can I find a Dashboard For a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup? I have tried all the salvage yards in my area but the dashboards I find are cracked also. I am not looking for the dash mat or dash cover. I am after the replacement of the original dash. It is the upper portion that I need.

This problem has plagued Dodge pickups for years. Every Dodge owner I know has this problem. Most people put a cover over it, which I know you are not looking to do.

I called the dealer... O M G!! They said dodge has redesigned the dash and you have to buy the top part (which will NOT fit the original dash) and the sides and the bottom and the air bag!! Total cost... $2100!! Thanks DODGE! (for nothing)
There are MANY places to buy the dash covers and as picky as I am about my vehicles and the ones I repair, I'm going with one of those. I have two dodge trucks and both are cracked! The covers look real good, fit perfectly, and take only about 30 minutes to install.
    Good luck with your truck.

I am a Dealer (used) and this problem has been an on going thing, the problem is that Dodge has engineered these dashboard to deteriorate as time and exposure to UV goes on, it's all about the catalyst in the plastic. Thus devaluing the vehicle and making the need for a new dash or a new vehicle inevitable, this is called planned obsolesance, do you really think after all these years Chrysler can't engineer a dash that lasts? They did in the 40's through the 70's imagine that!. We have replace no less than 8 of these dashboards with new dashes and hard covers and every time I buy a 4 to 5 hundred $ replacement it really pisses me off. Chrysler needs to suck it up, and at least sell a replacement dash at a reasonable price, the labor on this replacement is probably 6 to 8 hours, do the math, at $75.00 to $95.00 an hour. This is a perfect example of greed in our country. Someone need to build a better mouse trap.
