G.E. washer will not spin?

This could be due to the lid switch being defective or gone. This is a safety feature on washers so dumb folks don't put their hands/arms, etc into the spinning basket. The repair is about $75 if you call out a repairdude or you can replace the lid switch yourself if you get the right replacement part for less. But if you are going to do this yourself you should test the switch ahead of time to be sure it's bad. No big deal to change out, but if the switch is not bad then you just changed out a switch.
