    F-1 visa freelance job
Hi. I'm in the US under an F-1 visa. I understand that the only employment I can get while in that status aside from optional and curricular training is on campus. Now I happen to be fluent in several languages and would like to supplement my income by offering my services as a freelance translator. It seems to me this type of job isn't quite restricted to the US as I might do this over the internet with customers not necessarily residing in the US, so that it's technically not a job specifically performed in the US or using American resources. Would doing that constitute a violation of my F-1 status? Thank you.

You can't be "employee" full-time or part-time or contract, etc. However, you can do a freelance job for employers who are not in US, such as working online for foreign firms.

Don't generate record of payroll in US ever..

I see, thanks for the reply. So, if a foreign firm accepts customers from all over the world including the US I would be OK as long as the firm itself is not operating in the US?
