    Hair Colouring from Black
I have had my hair dyed three times in abour a year with the colour black, once at a salon and two by myself. Now I am am sick of this colour, and have used a hair lightener/bleach. It has made my roots blond, as I have light brown hair, it has made the rest of my hair a red copper colour.

I have read on the box that the hair colour will go through a process of red - gold -yellow. I have just applied a second application to the red and not the blonde. I am just about to wash it out, but I don't think it has worked.

I was wondering what I can do, to at least to get an all over head colour, I can't afford to go to a hair salon, any ideas would be much appreciated?

When hair is bleached it goes through different stages of lightening. It goes from dark black, to dark reddish brown, to medium reddish brown, to reddish brown, to light orange red, to gold orange, to gold, to light gold, to yellow, to pale yellow blonde, to palest yellow blonde. Your hair can be changed to light brown in one single process by using a higher volume hair color. But since you've bleached your hair, you will need to lighten it to one even shade before applying a toner/color. Try bleaching it to a gold stage and then deposit the color you desire.
