L1 visa = what tax status?
    Hi

I moved to the US (from Canada) in July '08 on an L1 visa. I have a wife & child here on L2's. I understand we will do w-7 for our child who cannot get a ssn. My wife does have an ssn.

I'm confused about my tax status. Help please!

You need to file jointly and declare in an attached statement to your Form 1040A that you and your wife CHOOSE to be treated as resident aliens for all of 2008.
