Hi,

I was on F-1 OPT from Jan 2008 to Sept 2008 and on H1-B Visa from Oct 2008 through December. I came to the US in August 2005.

Which form should I fill out for my tax returns :
a. 1040 NR EZ
b. 1040 NR
c. 1040 EZ

Also should I take standardized or itemized deductions ?
The major purchase I made during last year was a new car.

If you are single you will file nonresident tax return and Form 8843.

The car purchase has NO EFFECT on your tax return for 2008.

If you are an Indian citizen, you can claim the $5,450 standard deduction. Otherwise, you must itemize.
