Will a new polyester zipper shrink and pucker in a dress?
I am making a dress from a cotton eyelet fabric. I bought a 22 inch zipper which says it is Polyester but I thought that meant only the actual zipper teeth; not the tape part. Is this true? My concern is that since I have already pre-shrunk the fabric, will the zipper pucker once the article is washed after it is completed? :confused:Maybe I need to pre-shrink the zipper, too? Thanks and I hope to hear from someone soon.

Hello happy... The polyester in the zipper is in the tape part also... it should not shirnk or pucker... most of the time the material shirnks and makes the zipper pucker so you did right in pre washing the material first. New zippers are mostly polyester.. Some of the old ones were made of cotton with metal zipper teeth and the cotton would shirnk, making them pucker . You should not have any problems... Good luck... Glad to see someone that likes to sew...
