I have a sagem modem 2404 and bad bad bad neighbor :( he stealing my line and make my line to slow down and the most bad thing here is my pay system you pay 20 dl during a moust and 7000 mb and its enough for only one user if someone get your line so its ganna end up without internet until the end of the mount then you can pay for another mount so what I got to do how I block my wireless and still can open my line only by cable ? Please help

You can go into Routers Menu and turn Wireless Off.
What kind of router?

Unfortunately, I don't have a Sagem modem, so I can't give you exact description.

If you have a user manual, look for a section on "Security". There are three security modes commonly in use. In order of security they are called WEP, WPA, and WPA2. You want to use a "pre-shared key" (PSK).

With a "Pre-Shared Key", you simply connect to the wireless access point, enter the "pre-shared key" and you're online. If you don't let your bad bad bad neighbor know the pass phrase, he can't connect.

If he's using your Internet Connection, then you can do two things. First Change the SSID and hide it. Also turn on MAC filtering and allow only listed MAC addresses.

I use MAC filtering and it's simple this way you don't have to remember your PSK and if you forget the PSK it's a hassle to reset and reconfigure the router! MAC Filtering is simply entering you physical address one time and that's it!

The following link is in French but shows how toaccess the router/modem and enable any type of security you want. Pages 9-13 will show the different security types and how to enable/disable them.

To access the modem/router interface you need to open you interent and type 192.168.1.1 after that you will get a password and uname prompt. If you have not desiganted a username and passcode then type admin for the username and admin for the password. You will then enter the interface of the modem/router. Go to the wirless tab to setup the router. If you want to use MAC filtering click MAC filter if you want to use WEP, WAp etc... click on the security tab. The PDF will show everything after that.

P.S. If you want to use MAC filtering and want to know how to find your MAC, go to RUN which is in your programs list. Type in CMD

The command prompt will disply. Type ipconfig /all

If you want to use the wireless then scroll up till you find wirless adapter or wirless ethernet or wirless something and write down the physical address for this it should be xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx

I missed the model of the Modem earlier, If your not using the wireless, disable it.
You can disable wireless on the top of page 9 on the link provided by ITstudent.
If wireless is enabled, it can be hacked.

Stratmando is correct.

Here is a better option from what I mentioned above. Instead of messing with the security. Just disable the wirless function (included in both links provided by myself and stratmando) and just hardwire to the router/modem.

This way you don't have to mess with shared keys or MAC addresses etc...

It's simpler and probably the safest since it cannot be used unless their inside your house with an ethernet cord :)

It depends on the router you are using its quite simple to add a password to the network.
You could go and buy a Linksys by Cisco wireless-G router its very easy to set up and it has grate security easy too keep out those annoying wireless thieves. Or a cheaper method would be to use a cable directly from the modem. So just let me know what router you are using and ill let you know

Carstens, he doesn't use wireless him/herself,
I don't know of a Password or security that works. Don't use WEP, Some take more time than others.
Broadcasting in the air when all you have is hardwired, doen't make sense.
