I'm 17 and I have never been in a relationship. I don't know when someone is flirting with me. Can you give me some tips as to when someone is flirting with me or when they are just being friendly?

Are you a girl or a guy? I assume you are a girl from your user name...

Usually, guys are A lot more direct than girls when showing interest. For example, if a guy was interested in you at a party, you can expect him to ask you to be his beer pong partner, or he'll kind of follow you around, to stay in your sight a bit.

Then again, that's pretty much what I would do, but guys are different as are girls. Some guys may be creepy and just stand against the wall and stare at you... lol. Others will wait for you to come to them.

The key is just to be friendly. If you make eye contact with someone, say hi. Don't look away. Once contact is made, you MUST do something. If you are friendly, the rest will fall into place.

Smile and be friendly usually is best until you figure out what the real deal is and you can act according to your own tastes.

I don't think its easy to tell with many people as one kind of blends into the other. The more important part of the equation is to know what your intentions are and what your limitations are-- and be true to them. I am flirted with often and sometimes I flirt back (or at least I think its flirting!? LOL) however since I am happily married, I know I won't permit it to go beyond a certain point but even if I was single and available I would know where my comfort zone boundaries are and you should too!

You mean there's a difference? At age 17, anyone of the opposite sex who's age-compatible with you and is part of your peer group who's being friendly with you can pretty safely be assumed to be flirting. Respond accordingly and have fun.
