    Acer Laptop with Windows Vista
My new laptop has just blacked out, last week, and I cannot get it started. I have tried just about everything.
Searched the internet for answers etc.
It says it does not recognise the operating system, in fact it says there is none...

Sounds like the hard drive has died.
Is it still covered by warranty ?

It is only 2 months old, so it must be?

What is the exact error message?

Any changes that either happened or that you perhaps made to your computer around the time that the problem started; particularly any Software or Hardware that you installed or setup.

Have you tried/considered a system recovery? Acers have hidden hard drives with reinstallation files to reinstall the system back to factory settings

Any changes that either happened or that you perhaps made to your computer around the time that the problem started; particularly any Software or Hardware that you installed or setup.

If not mistaken, if you start the laptop and then hit the
ALT and F10 at the same time, it will start the system recovery process

As far as warranty, you would have 1 yr warranty with Acer. You have to pay to have it shipped to the service center and they pay for shipping back to you.

Phoned the helpline this morning, they suggested the same Alt F10, but no, this didn't work. Sadly will have to be taken back to Acer and restored. This happened to me with Dell as well, only I had to fight with them to replace it.

    Thanks for all your help.:)
